Nursing

Blood Test:
If your Consultant requires you to have any blood tests this can be done for you following your consultation. Some blood tests do require preparation, for example you may need to have been fasting. We will discuss this with you, provide instructions needed, and make an appointment for you to return for your blood test.

Pre-Assessment:
In some cases you may need to see the anaesthetist before you have an operation, where some simple tests will be done: - ECG - this is a tracing of your heartbeat. This involves placing some small pads on your chest, which links to the machine to give your tracing. This test takes just a few minutes and the only thing you need to do is lie on a couch.

Spirometry:
Another simple test that also only takes a few minutes. This test involves blowing into a machine, which gives the doctor a view of your lung function. The nurse will also be able to help you with any questions you may have regarding your proposed surgery and hospital stay.

Dressing changes:
If following your operation you have a wound dressing that needs to be changed, this can also be done. You can make an appointment directly with the nurse for this service.
